2016 Winner Stories:

Best Temperature Controlled Logistics Project

Johnson & Johnson

Johnson & Johnson organised the supply chain for the shipping and storage of a vaccine to prevent Ebola into Sierra Leone. This vaccine needed to be shipped on dry ice, stored at -20°C, transported below -5°C and stored at the clinic between 2-8°C and administered below 25°C.

They started from scratch, from building a warehouse, purchasing of freezers, training the locals to writing procedures. As a result, Johnson & Johnson developed an Ebola vaccine to protect the Africans, engaged the Sierra Leone population to participate in this trial and achieved no ROI because the vaccine was to be given for free to the vulnerable population.
